Overview:

ClassDojo is a great classroom management and family communication tool! Students create their own monster character. They are able to personalize their monster and can update them regularly. Points are added to the student's monster for positive behavior. As the teacher, you are able to determine the skills your particular class is working on, such as voice level, following directions, treating others respect, completing work, and participating. You are also able to determine the point value for each skill. If your class is focusing on voice level that week, you can make this skill worth more points. Students can be working towards prizes with their points, such as extra recess, fun lunch, or a physical prize like a fidget. It is also possible to take points from a student's monster as well. A fun way to get the entire class engaged, especially if you are focusing on a particular skill, is to have a class monster. This class monster earns points when the entire class meets expectations, such as receiving a compliment from another teacher! Families receive updates about how their student is doing with earning points. As the teacher, you are also able to see a summary of each student so you can see which skills an individual student has earned the most points in, and which areas they can continue to grow. ClassDojo can also be used as a way to communicate with families. You can easily message all families at the same time, or message individual families. You can also attach files and photos to your messages. There is also a Class Story where you can post announcements, including files, photos, recordings, and events. Students are able to comment on these posts, or this feature can be disabled. Students are able to post their own work to their Portfolios! All submissions must be teacher-approved before becoming visible. ClassDojo is a great way to encourage positive behavior in the classroom and to easily communicate with families!
