Overview:
Google Docs is a free online word processor that encourages collaboration. Google Docs is similar to Microsoft Word but is fully online so work can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection! Multiple collaborators can be added to any Google Doc and can work on the same document simultaneously. Collaborators can also add comments that others can reply to as they are working. Text, images, equations, charts, page numbers, and drawings can be easily added to any Google Doc. If you create a template or want to make adjustments without editing the original version, you can make a copy of the entire document. Google Docs provides many accessibility features, including speech-to-text, screen reader support, and magnifier support.
Google Docs is ideal when working with colleagues, as well as with students. When unpacking modules, planning lessons, creating materials, or developing a meeting agenda, Google Docs allows you to easily share all of this information with colleagues so everyone can communicate and collaborate. Students are able to easily work on group projects with peers in different classes. If assigned as a Google Classroom assignment or if the student shares their Doc with you, you are able to go into their work to offer support and feedback in real time. You are also able to go in to see the version's history if you ever need to go back to restore an earlier version of the document. Google Docs is an incredible web-based word processor that promotes communication and collaboration in real time.
