Overview:
Khan Academy is an easy-to-use online program that offers free courses, lessons, and practice. Students learn by watching an instructional video where the presenter goes step-by-step how to solve problems by showing each step on the virtual whiteboard. After watching the video, students practice by answering questions, where they receive immediate feedback so they know right away if they are ready to move on or if they need to take some more time to review the video and practice a few more problems. It is easy to assign a lesson or course to specific students. This is great for previewing a new topic or reviewing previously taught skills. Khan Academy lessons can be used during small group rotations, during RTI, or if students finish work early. As students complete lessons, they earn mastery points! Students know they have mastered that skill when they have earned all of their mastery points in that topic. New videos and lessons are added regularly! Khan Academy is such a great program because students are able to work at their own pace!
