Overview:
Learning Ally is a digital library app that features audiobooks read with a human's voice specially designed to meet the needs of struggling readers, including students with a learning disability, physical disability, or visual impairment. There are over 80,000 audio-books available, including fiction, nonfiction, and curriculum-aligned titles. Both teachers and students are able to search for books by Lexile, grade level, subject, category, or curriculum. Teachers are able to assign books to specific students or an entire class. Students can add books and audiobooks to their library, or download them to read later offline. As students read, they are able to hear the human narration as they see the highlighted text. Similarly to reading a physical book, students are able to navigate to different parts of the virtual book at any time. Students are able to personalize their reading experience by adjusting the speed of the voice, background color, text size, line spacing, and more. If students come across an unfamiliar word, they can highlight the word to display its definition. Students are even able to bookmark as they are reading and take notes. The notes can be shared with the teacher. Teachers are able to monitor students' progress through the teacher dashboard.
