“hey,” she said.
why are there no
uppercases to accompany
my composition?
she turned on caps lock.
she tried changing the font.
she made the text bold.
she italicized her words.
It worked for
a while.
then her punctuation
began to disappear
and her letters
became lowercase again
what’s going on
hey she said
why is there no
punctuation to escort
my prose
actually i dont really
mind the lack of punctuation anymore
but the uppercases
were my friends
why are they gone
why didnt they like me
why cant i be normal
why am i so lowercase
so she changed her settings
so she zoomed in
so she highlighted
so she pressed her back arrows
but nothing could
change the lowercase
in her
heart
she was ready
to see her tale
come to
life
so she printed it
but the page came
out
empty
are my poems
trying to tell
me that im no
good at writing
and i should just
quit and ill never
be good at anything
because the uppercases
ignored me and the punctuation
shunned me and the printer
refused to produce my words
onto a sheet of paper because it was
too pure to be cursed with the weight of
the letters constructed by my heavy thoughts
she
said
and so she stopped writing
because the uppercases ignored her
the punctuation shunned her
and the printer refused to produce her words onto a sheet of paper
