My Future
By Gianna Hercolini

I used to think of my future
And when I did,
There wasn't one.
I used to think
"I'll be dead by 22"
"I'll either die
From some freak accident
Or I'll end up with blood on
My own hands"
When I think of my future now
I think of you.
I think of falling asleep
Next to you.
I think of waking up to my alarm
And not being mad that it went off
I'll be happy
Because I'll open my eyes
And you'll be laying next to me.
I think of coming home
And smelling something nice
Because you made us dinner.
I think of coming home
And seeing a vase
Filled with my favorite red roses.
I think of seeing your soap
And your toothbrush
And your hairbrush
Lying right next to mine.
I think of never feeling like
My life will end within 10 years
Because yours is mine.
And yours will last a millennia.
I think of lying next to you
In bed
In the car
In an airplane
In our graves.
Because we are eternal.
You gave me a future.
One that i thought
I would never have.
You are my future.
