Being Kissed By the Sun

By Cheyde Faulkner

The beings kissed by the sun

Moving to the rhythm of the ground

With the heart of a warrior

Whose spirit,

could not be shotton down with any gun

Beauty could not be outweighed by any amount of gold

Standing beside the black man

through harshest cold

Listening to the whispers of the wind

She sang to children of darkened skin

Who cried and wheeped at their blindness

With their low chins,

She then guided

and took them back to where they had been

Rejoicing with grace

Once again, giving birth

To the abundance of love to embrace

The children now acknowledged their worth

The beings kissed by the sun

She is mother earth,

The whole universe.
