I am just a child

But I’m told I act

like an adult

They don’t pay attention to me;

Not that I’m neglected, but

I do things on my own.

I’ll make my bed before I’m told,

attend my concerts alone.

It’s not that I don’t love them

but

It’s hard

when your parents love you less

because you were last

And

they think I’m independent,

so they let me be

Think I’m stubborn

Think I’m free-willed

Think I don’t need them

I do

But they don’t remember,

I am just a child.
