A Stranger’s Heart

By Cheyde Faulkner

My home is in a stranger’s heart

Connected in the distance

Shifting from place to place

Never sitting long enough to relish in one space

Sweet reassurance of knowing I can’t stay

A broken piece, knowing you’ll soon walk away

Foreign and luxurious to fulfill my soul’s desires

Somewhere I don’t belong

Continuously humming that song

A reckless melody

Familiarity and security

in my deepest imaginations

Connection deprivation

where one lies for eternity

My home is in a stranger’s heart
