Immortals Craving

Those bones should’ve creaked and groaned as if it were an old and dusty door being

opened for the first time in decades. It should’ve willed itself onward to open with adversity but

instead, those bones moved seamlessly with no issue despite the millennia that have passed. They

remained spry and light, much like the skin that bore it that should’ve wrinkled and pruned then

turned to dust but was instead, much like the bones, unchanged. Nor had a single golden hair had

yielded to the color gray in this time, instead it was thick and coarse as it was thousands of years

ago and thousands of years it will continue to be.

Albeit all of this, their physical attributes unchanged and golden, their habits spoke bore a

different tune. Their moves were calculated and precise, the art of walking was used and practiced

to the utmost perfection to the average human being. A smile would adjourn their face with the

spark of youth in which their eyes lit up with, only to be replaced by an unrecognizable stare to the

previous mood they exhibited before. Instead, their eyes would flutter lower to the point others

would ask if they were feeling ill or tired, and the upturned curve of their mouth would befall and

unmove to a frown. In short, they were tired.

Their bones would never ache, nor did any wrinkles appear from their frown, and nor

would a single gray hair appear on their head, not one day did death show a sign they would

knock on their door for the past centuries or so. They would never go hungry nor experience the

debilitating torture of dehydration or crave the greed of gold but craved the release of death.

For so long had they wandered this world, ties being formed and broken with their friends’

demise or peaceful leave

The writer requested that her work be published anonymously, but wrote this: "I've been interested in writing for a couple of years now and enjoy writing detailed descriptions on how the characters are feeling internally to get everything started in a story. I enjoy writing about fantastical elements in my writing which is probably why I chose to write about an immortal to craves death."
