I kind of figured
From the first date
You were already playing my heart and it was too late
I kind of figured
After our walks in the park
That you would suddenly disappear, into the dark
I kind of figured
From the interrupted phone calls
Through the walls
I heard everything from the “I miss you and I love you” and all
I kind of figured
You coming leaving and going
Your true side was already showing
I kind of figured
From the talks of my girlfriends
“Girl, you need to leave him”
But I hung on you like a used teddy bear
Because for some reason, I didn’t want to share
I kind of figured
After you left
That I should have trusted my instincts and my girlfriends
I kind of figured
After writing all of this
Why should I be writing about you?
