I stretch out my wings
Feeling the pain of age in each slight movement
The days grow shorter for my life
The heat burns inside me,
Flowing, ever so slowly everywhere in my body
The scorching embers spark within
I remember the days of my youth
Not having a single care in the world
Thinking I was but invincible
Flying a little low, to avoid the peaks of mountains
Soaring all through the sky, diving
Catching myself at the last minute
Seeing the endless horizon before me
Here I sit riddled with such age
I cannot even fly
I breathe in, fearing that each breath could be my last
Now, I feel as though it is truly my time
I go to lie down, and go peacefully in my sleep
As I slowly close my eyes, I am ready
I lived a great, long lasting life
I close my eyes, waiting until they open again
