Sitting in the back as we drive,
It's dark as it's the middle of the night,
Being so young and feeling alive,
I turn on the little light,
I'm only aware of what I can see,
As the light reveals just so little,
I play with the toys in front of me,
As I fall asleep watching the stars twinkle,
I wake up as light peeks through,
I become more aware,
Nothing is true,
The light hits my eyes like a bright glare,
Less darkness,
Less questions,
More harshness,
More fears.

This poem is about driving and turning on a little light. The light is what you know and what you are exposed to as a child, and the darkness is what you don't. As the poem progresses, and it gets brighter, you are getting older and being exposed to the truths of the world.
