Description of Course: Advanced Placement is a program of college level courses and exams for secondary school students. Over 90 percent of the colleges that most AP candidates have attended give credits and/or advanced placement to students whose AP Examination grades are considered acceptable. Students should have a teacher recommendation to take this course. The time reference for this challenging course stretches from the colonial period until the present day. The political, economic, social, and cultural history of the U.S. is pursued as thoroughly as time permits. The reading and writing is intense, extensive, involving primary and secondary sources. It is recommended that students taking this course take the Advanced Placement (AP) National Exam at the end of the course.
