Description of Course: In Topic One, students make observations of the sun, moon, and stars to describe patterns. In Topic two and three, Students observe some of the diverse forms in insects to find patterns in the life cycles and behaviors of insects. In Topic four, Students investigate the chief components of soil and explore the relationship between soil and plant growth. The students also conduct tests that enable them to observe and compare such properties of soil as odor, appearance, and texture. Students apply what they have learned to investigate a sample of local garden soil.
