Description of Course: AP Statistics is the study of data for analysis, experimental design, statistical calculation and the use of inference to make predictions. It introduces students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing and drawing conclusions from data. The curriculum covers four broad areas: (1) exploring data - describing patterns and departures from patterns, (2) sampling and experimentation- planning and conducting a study, (3) anticipating patterns- exploring random phenomena using probability and simulation, (4) statistical inference- estimating population parameters and testing hypotheses. The course syllabus follows the recommendations of the College Board and is intended to prepare students for the Advanced Placement (AP) National Exam in May.
