The MJS student body embodies compassion and service, showcasing our commitment to those in need within our county. The MJS Student Council collected over 400 food items for the Market Street Mission in Morristown, a beacon of hope for individuals who are homeless, hungry, and struggling with addiction. Each homeroom fiercely competed to gather non-perishable food items, demonstrating our unity and determination. Additionally, students received a $2 discount on their Winter Dance ticket for each food item they brought in. Thank you to all the families who supported the drive, reinforcing our MJS ONE Theme: "One Inclusive Community Helping Each Other Learn and Grow."
Culture Club was excited to receive another invitation to attend the annual Madison High School (MHS) International Gala, hosted by the World Language Department! Our members enjoyed a wonderful evening celebrating global cultures, complete with delicious food ranging from crepes, dumplings, meatballs, and guacamole and chips. MHS students showcased their language skills with impressive performances in the languages they study, including music, poetry readings, and even opera. The night also featured a special virtual appearance by Étienne, whose popular Six Sept (Six Seven) song has became a trend on social media —and French classes around the globe are helping him win a Guinness World Record! All in all, it was a fun and enriching cultural event for everyone involved.
Eataly Short Hills welcomed the 7th grade Italian students to introduce them to the art and joy of authentic Italian cuisine. On this trip, the students learned about key ingredients, culinary techniques, and cultural traditions of Italian cuisine, and tasted authentic gelato!

Last summer, Michal Loopacinski participated in a tennis camp at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Washington, D.C.. After the camp ended, out of 100 children, 10 participants were selected and invited to attend a tennis camp in Mallorca in 2026 — Michal was among this selected group. Michal has been playing tennis since 2022, but it was in September 2024 that he began training much more intensively and achieving successive results in the UTR ranking. This invitation is a tremendous honor for him. Congratualtions Michal!

In Madison, we utilize a 1:1 Chromebook model where all students (grades 6-12) receive a district owned Chromebook to utilize during the school day and at home. While there is no cost for the use of the Chromebook, it is important that Chromebooks be maintained and handled in a responsible way. As we continue to move through the school year, we wanted to utilize this time as a reminder for our students and families about the importance of handling Chromebooks with care to prevent damage to the device. The district has expectations and protocols that are listed on the district website that we continue to follow at the building level.
We would like to highlight the specific section regarding lost and damaged chromebooks as a reminder to all parents and guardians:
In the event a Chromebook, case, or charger is lost or damaged beyond repair and deemed to be intentional, excessive, neglectful or student misuse, parents/guardians are responsible for paying the cost of replacement equipment.
Costs:
Chromebook (damaged beyond repair) - $365.00
Broken Screen - $90.00
Broken Keyboard - $70.00
Charger - $47.00
Case - $20.00
Other - Will be quoted by the Tech Department
Note: Final assessment of damage and fines are determined by the Technology Department.
Students are also responsible for the care of any loaners they use. Damage to loaners is subject to the same rules as permanently assigned Chromebooks.
In case of theft, parents/guardians are required to file a formal police report with the Madison Police Department.
Below are the direct links from the district website that pertains to Chromebook care and protocols followed for lost/damaged Chromebooks.
