On Tuesday, April 22nd, we proudly celebrated our March Student Leaders of the Month! Each month, our dedicated teachers select two students from every team who exemplify leadership qualities. A huge congratulations to these outstanding students for their positive contributions to our MJS ONE Community each and every day. We deeply appreciate their role modeling within our school.

This past Tuesday morning, we were thrilled to welcome our incoming 6th graders to Madison Junior School for their exciting orientation! Our future students had the chance to discover what makes MJS such a fantastic place to learn and grow. Our wonderful student council members led engaging tours, showcasing all the different areas of our building. That evening, we also welcomed our 5th-grade families to learn more about our school and connect with our dedicated staff. We are eagerly anticipating our 5th graders officially joining the MJS ONE community!
On Tuesday, our 8th-grade Italian students enjoyed a delightful and educational afternoon at Healthy Italia, where they practiced their language skills while cooking and savoring tagliatelle pasta and cannolis. We extend our sincere gratitude to the MEF for their generous support in making this enriching and engaging learning experience possible!
Members of the Culture Club, Art Club and Green Team came together in honor of Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22nd. Students enjoyed the MJS courtyard, in full bloom thanks to the Green Team, and "Dirt Cups" (pudding, crushed oreos, and gummy worms). We also enjoyed competing for extra gummy worms with Earth Day Trivia questions which helped us learn some important facts such as: One tree can provide enough oxygen for four people! People use approximately 50+ gallons of water per day! The ocean produces about half of the world's oxygen!
On Wednesday, our talented 8th-grade musicians from the Band, Chorus, Orchestra, and Jazz Band participated in an adjudicated performance in the morning. We were fortunate to have a special guest adjudicator who provided valuable feedback after each group performed their selected pieces, offering a unique learning opportunity as they prepare for their upcoming Spring Concert. The day culminated in an exciting trip to New York City where the students enjoyed a performance of The Lion King on Broadway. It was a fantastic day for all, celebrating both their musical achievements and the magic of live theater!
On Thursday, Madison Junior School was delighted to participate in the annual "Bring Your Child to Work Day"! We were proud to support our dedicated educators and support staff as they shared a meaningful and engaging experience with their children. The children of our staff members were warmly welcomed to join in a variety of activities alongside our MJS students throughout the school day. Our Peer Leaders played an integral role, offering support and interacting wonderfully with our young guests. A big thank you to all the staff members who organized activities and to our amazing PTO for providing snacks and a delicious pizza lunch. This special day truly exemplified our strong MJS ONE Community spirit!

A big thank you to our office secretary, Ms. Kelly for taking the time to organize our Lost and Found table. Below is an updated picture of all the items we currently have in our lost and found. If you notice a item that belongs to your child please have them go to the office to check in with Ms. Kelly before picking up their item. Thank you for your assistance in getting these items back to their owners.

As the weather gets warmer, we encourage you to review the MPS Dress Code with your children.
In Madison, we utilize a 1:1 Chromebook model where all students (grades 6-12) receive a district owned Chromebook to utilize during the school day and at home. While there is no cost for the use of the Chromebook, it is important that Chromebooks be maintained and handled in a responsible way. As we continue to move through the school year, we wanted to utilize this time as a reminder for our students and families about the importance of handling Chromebooks with care to prevent damage to the device. The district has expectations and protocols that are listed on the district website that we continue to follow at the building level.
We would like to highlight the specific section regarding lost and damaged chromebooks as a reminder to all parents and guardians:
In the event a Chromebook, case, or charger is lost or damaged beyond repair and deemed to be intentional, excessive, neglectful or student misuse, parents/guardians are responsible for paying the cost of replacement equipment.
Costs:
Chromebook - $365.00
Charger - $47.00
Case - $20.00
Other - Will be quoted by the Tech Department
Note: Final assessment of damage and fines are determined by the Technology Department.
Students are also responsible for the care of any loaners they use. Damage to loaners is subject to the same rules as permanently assigned Chromebooks.
In case of theft, parents/guardians are required to file a formal police report with the Madison Police Department.

Welcome back to the 2024/2025 school year! On behalf of the MJS PTO Committee, we are thrilled to embark on another amazing year at Madison Junior School with all of you. Your unwavering support last year made a tremendous impact on our school community, and we are excited to continue building on that success together.
1. PTO Dues
Thanks to your generosity and involvement, we were able to provide numerous "Stock the Staff Room" days, organize and fund engaging student socials/Color Run, support the teachings of Coach Jim Stroker, assist with teacher grants, and so much more. These efforts would not have been possible without your dedication and commitment to our school. The contributions you make through PTO Dues directly impact the quality of programs and resources we can provide to our students and staff, helping us create the best possible environment for learning and growth. 2. Volunteer Opportunities:
As we look ahead to this year, there are many opportunities for you to get involved. Volunteering is a wonderful way to contribute to our school community, and we have several events and initiatives where we could use your help. Please take a look at our google form below and grab a spot.
3. Fundraising Efforts:
This year, we have several exciting fundraising events planned to support our school’s needs. Your support and participation in these events directly benefit our students and enhance their educational experience. Keep your eyes out for our delicious Griggstown Pie Sale, MJS Spirit Wear, Book Fair, and other potential fundraising efforts, your participation is vital to our success.
