We had another great week waltzing into Winter with our Spirit Week! We officially welcomed winter on Thursday. Our building was full of holiday spirit throughout the week especially on Friday. During our assembly on Friday I shared with our students how proud I was of them for all of the great work these past four months. I also gave a shout out to our staff who continue to provide the best learning experiences for our students.
This week demonstrated the growth we have experienced so far this school year as One Inclusive Community Helping Each Other Learn and Grow. I am excited for 2024 and all of the amazing things to come at MJS!
We had another great week of spirit as we continued to Waltz into Winter at MJS. From merry and bright, to a favorite hat, to a winter white out, to ugly sweaters to anything but a backpack, our students and staff had a blast!
Our final spirit day of the week, Anything but a Backpack, was a huge success! This day was suggested by our Student Council Executive Board earlier in the school year. The students had a great time bringing in anything but a backpack to carry their belongings.
On Friday we hosted our Music Department Holiday Concert, which has been a longstanding tradition at MJS. Our Orchestra, Choir and Band performed various music selections for our entire MJS community to help spread holiday joy as we all got ready for winter break. The best part of this tradition is when our Jazz Band plays Feliz Navidad and our staff come up to sing along. By the end of the piece the entire auditorium was up and singing! Great job to all of our performers, music directors and a big thank you to our entire MJS community. Check out the video clip below of Feliz Navidad!
Our Boys Basketball Team had a game this Wednesday at home against East Hanover. We came away with another win. Great job!!
On Friday groups of students were caroling through the hallways. It was definitely a spirit filled day and such an awesome way to kick off our winter break. We are excited to welcome in 2024! Check out the video below of a group of 8th grade students spreading holiday joy in our main office!
We are excited to share this special announcement for the Event of the Year at MJS! Check the video out to learn more! More information to come when we return in 2024.
As we enter winter break I want to wish all of our MJS families the very best during this holiday season. It is my hope that we all can take some time to relax while spending quality time with family and friends.
We have an exciting month ahead when we return in 2024. We will welcome our guest speaker, Coach Stroker, on January 10th who will work with our students on the topics of leadership and decision making. Our winter pep rally is scheduled for January 26th. As you saw from the video above, we will have our schoolwide winter dance on February 1st.
We are excited to welcome another Spirit Week during the second week of January sponsored by our Conflict Resolution Club. The theme will be Dress for the Decades. See the flyer below for more information.

A note from the Madison Education Foundation:
On this #GivingTuesday week and throughout the holiday season, we ask that you include MEF in your charitable giving plans.
By the time this calendar year is over, we will have funded nearly 60 grants totaling more than $120,000. These impressive numbers are thanks to the generosity of community members like you that contribute to our effort year after year. Your donation now ensures our ability to fund the wonderful enrichment grant submissions we are sure to receive in 2024 and beyond.
Thank you for your continued support!
To our MJS community,
