Our School Wide Winter Dance was a total hit, with 350+ students enjoying a fantastic evening of fun. Dancing, games, photos, and snacks – it was the perfect way to bring our MJS community together. Beyond the dancing and fun, it was a valuable opportunity for our students to build connections and strengthen our school spirit. Seeing everyone participate in such a positive and respectful way reinforces the importance of these events for our students' growth. I am proud of the safe, responsible and respectful way our student body participated, proving that learning extends beyond the classroom.
My heartfelt thanks to Ms. Siso, Ms. Kolinchak, our dedicated chaperones, and the incredible PTO for their hard work in creating such a memorable evening.

Pollinator Hotels Update! Green Team members continued working on their Pollinator Hotels in the STEM room with Ms. Nering, Mrs. Marotta, and Mrs. Barkin-Baron. On Thursday February 27, the high school music department came to MJS to present an assembly to our 8th graders. Students were treated to performances by the MHS jazz choir, jazz band, and string ensemble. The high school teachers spoke to the 8th graders about all the music elective offerings available to them next year. In addition to band, chorus, and orchestra, there are a number of music classes and extracurricular activities for freshmen to be a part of. We hope all our 8th graders will consider taking a music class when they get to high school!

In Madison, we utilize a 1:1 Chromebook model where all students (grades 6-12) receive a district owned Chromebook to utilize during the school day and at home. While there is no cost for the use of the Chromebook, it is important that Chromebooks be maintained and handled in a responsible way. As we continue to move through the school year, we wanted to utilize this time as a reminder for our students and families about the importance of handling Chromebooks with care to prevent damage to the device. The district has expectations and protocols that are listed on the district website that we continue to follow at the building level.
We would like to highlight the specific section regarding lost and damaged chromebooks as a reminder to all parents and guardians:
In the event a Chromebook, case, or charger is lost or damaged beyond repair and deemed to be intentional, excessive, neglectful or student misuse, parents/guardians are responsible for paying the cost of replacement equipment.
Costs:
Chromebook - $365.00
Charger - $47.00
Case - $20.00
Other - Will be quoted by the Tech Department
Note: Final assessment of damage and fines are determined by the Technology Department.
Students are also responsible for the care of any loaners they use. Damage to loaners is subject to the same rules as permanently assigned Chromebooks.
In case of theft, parents/guardians are required to file a formal police report with the Madison Police Department.
Below are the direct links from the district website that pertains to Chromebook care and protocols followed for lost/damaged Chromebooks.
