On Wednesday, May 1st our 8th Grade French students took a trip to Delice Macaron in Madison. They previously researched famous French pastry shops in Paris and learned about several French pastry chefs and which pastries they are famous for. They got to experience some great treats while connecting what they learned in class.
Our Spring TREP$ Marketplace was held on Wednesday May 1 outside on our front lawn and it was another great success! TREP$, short for enTREPreneur$, is a project-based learning program that teaches kids in grades middle school how to start their own businesses. Over the past month our students learned various lessons and applied them as they built their business plans. The whole school community came out to enjoy the TREP$ Marketplace, where our young entrepreneurs launched or continued their businesses together. A big thank you to our TREP$ advisor, Ms. Siso. for her guidance and leadership in providing this great opportunity for our students and community.
At the Board of Education Meeting on Tuesday, I was appointed as the Principal of Madison Junior School. Thank you to Superintendent Shanley and the Board of Education for their support. I am honored and excited to be given this opportunity to lead such a wonderful school community. It was a special week for me and the support in celebration that I received from staff, students and families after the appointment was truly amazing and heartwarming. On Friday at the end of the day the whole school community with the help of our PTO and Ms. Siso, gathered on the back field to have a surprise celebration for me. Thank you everyone for making this a week that I will never forget. MJS is truly a great place to learn and grow! Together we are MJS ONE!

In Madison, we utilize a 1:1 Chromebook model where all students (grades 6-12) receive a district owned Chromebook to utilize during the school day and at home. While there is no cost for the use of the Chromebook, it is important that Chromebooks be maintained and handled in a responsible way. As we continue to move through the school year, we wanted to utilize this time as a reminder for our students and families about the importance of handling Chromebooks with care to prevent damage to the device. The district has expectations and protocols that are listed on the district website that we continue to follow at the building level.
We would like to highlight the specific section regarding lost and damaged chromebooks as a reminder to all parents and guardians:
In the event a Chromebook, case, or charger is lost or damaged beyond repair and deemed to be intentional, excessive, neglectful or student misuse, parents/guardians are responsible for paying the cost of replacement equipment.
Costs:
Chromebook - $365.00
Charger - $47.00
Case - $20.00
Other - Will be quoted by the Tech Department
Note: Final assessment of damage and fines are determined by the Technology Department.
Students are also responsible for the care of any loaners they use. Damage to loaners is subject to the same rules as permanently assigned Chromebooks.
In case of theft, parents/guardians are required to file a formal police report with the Madison Police Department.
Below are the direct links from the district website that pertains to Chromebook care and protocols followed for lost/damaged Chromebooks.
