We wrapped up a fantastic Spirit Week, bringing a wonderful sense of holiday cheer and community to our halls. We owe a huge thank you to our Student Council and their advisors, Ms. Siso and Ms. Kolinchak, for their hard work in organizing such a memorable week.
One of the week’s biggest highlights was our inaugural Rock Paper Scissors Challenge on Friday. Throughout the day, students and staff competed in matches, with winners collecting beads to track their victories. The energy reached a peak during our pep rally, where the top competitors faced off on stage. A huge congratulations to 8th grader Kieran Sullivan, the winner of our school-wide challenge!
To cap off the festivities, today was "Anything but a Backpack" Day. Our hallways were filled with incredible creativity as students and staff found unique and clever ways to carry their belongings. It was a perfect way to celebrate our school spirit!
Check out the pictures below to see some of the highlights from the week.
Today, MJS continued its cherished tradition with our annual Music Department Holiday Concert. Our Orchestra, Choir, and Band delivered wonderful performances, filling the school with holiday joy as we prepare for winter break. A true highlight of the event was the Jazz Band’s performance of "Feliz Navidad," where staff joined the stage to lead a sing-along. By the final notes, the entire auditorium was singing together in a fantastic display of school spirit. Congratulations to our talented performers and music directors, and a heartfelt thank you to the entire MJS community for your support!

In Madison, we utilize a 1:1 Chromebook model where all students (grades 6-12) receive a district owned Chromebook to utilize during the school day and at home. While there is no cost for the use of the Chromebook, it is important that Chromebooks be maintained and handled in a responsible way. As we continue to move through the school year, we wanted to utilize this time as a reminder for our students and families about the importance of handling Chromebooks with care to prevent damage to the device. The district has expectations and protocols that are listed on the district website that we continue to follow at the building level.
We would like to highlight the specific section regarding lost and damaged chromebooks as a reminder to all parents and guardians:
In the event a Chromebook, case, or charger is lost or damaged beyond repair and deemed to be intentional, excessive, neglectful or student misuse, parents/guardians are responsible for paying the cost of replacement equipment.
Costs:
Chromebook (damaged beyond repair) - $365.00
Broken Screen - $90.00
Broken Keyboard - $70.00
Charger - $47.00
Case - $20.00
Other - Will be quoted by the Tech Department
Note: Final assessment of damage and fines are determined by the Technology Department.
Students are also responsible for the care of any loaners they use. Damage to loaners is subject to the same rules as permanently assigned Chromebooks.
In case of theft, parents/guardians are required to file a formal police report with the Madison Police Department.
Below are the direct links from the district website that pertains to Chromebook care and protocols followed for lost/damaged Chromebooks.
