Our Music Department took center stage this past Thursday night for a memorable Winter Band Concert. The evening was filled with exceptional performances that highlighted the growth and passion of our student musicians. Our sincere thanks go to Mr. Sabatino and Mr. Rossi for their expert leadership, and to our families for their continued encouragement. Bravo to all the students and directors for such a successful concert!
7th Grade Students engaged in a lesson this week where they looked at the effects of runoff from human activities on the environment leading to a hypothetical fish kill in the Raritan Bay. These lessons were facilitated by the Rutgers Science Bus Team, which was supported by an MEF grant. They created a model and then simulated the runoff process with pollutants and then a second time with the protection of a salt marsh. Students took into consideration several variables such as salinity, weather during that week and the various types of pollution on their enviroscapes. At the end they were able to make a connection between human activity and the resultant eutrophication that can ensue after rain, warm temperatures and runoff occurs. Thank you to our MEF for their support in funding this grant for our students!
This Thursday, our Green Team had a rockin’ good time painting fun and inspirational rocks with Ms. McIntyre from the YMCA. These students truly seized their creativity, turning ordinary stones into works of art! This spring, their creations will be rolling out into the MJS courtyard to rock the space with color, positivity, and school spirit.
Our lost and found table continues to gather many items. A big thank you to our office secretary, Ms. Kelly for continuing to take the time to organize these items so we can get them back to their owners. Below are pictures of all the current items we have in our lost and found. If you notice a item that belongs to your child please have them go to the office to check in with Ms. Kelly before picking up their item. Thank you for your assistance in getting these items back to their owners.

In Madison, we utilize a 1:1 Chromebook model where all students (grades 6-12) receive a district owned Chromebook to utilize during the school day and at home. While there is no cost for the use of the Chromebook, it is important that Chromebooks be maintained and handled in a responsible way. As we continue to move through the school year, we wanted to utilize this time as a reminder for our students and families about the importance of handling Chromebooks with care to prevent damage to the device. The district has expectations and protocols that are listed on the district website that we continue to follow at the building level.
We would like to highlight the specific section regarding lost and damaged chromebooks as a reminder to all parents and guardians:
In the event a Chromebook, case, or charger is lost or damaged beyond repair and deemed to be intentional, excessive, neglectful or student misuse, parents/guardians are responsible for paying the cost of replacement equipment.
Costs:
Chromebook (damaged beyond repair) - $365.00
Broken Screen - $90.00
Broken Keyboard - $70.00
Charger - $47.00
Case - $20.00
Other - Will be quoted by the Tech Department
Note: Final assessment of damage and fines are determined by the Technology Department.
Students are also responsible for the care of any loaners they use. Damage to loaners is subject to the same rules as permanently assigned Chromebooks.
In case of theft, parents/guardians are required to file a formal police report with the Madison Police Department.
Below are the direct links from the district website that pertains to Chromebook care and protocols followed for lost/damaged Chromebooks.
