This week the Culture Club at MJS proudly ran a table at the Torey J. Sabatini (TJS) Elementary School "Cultural Celebration" Wednesday evening. Culture Club members created and managed an engaging table where TJS students and families explored a presentation board featuring photos of Culture Club activities, made their own flags, and enjoyed snacks from around the globe. Members enthusiastically talked with students and parents throughout the event, talking about what Culture Club is all about. MJS was well represented and everyone enjoyed the fun event!

Our 6th graders had an incredible Friday morning diving deep into the world of weather with Meteorologist John Marshall. It was the perfect bridge between the classroom and the real world. Students saw their recent science lessons come to life and even stepped behind the scenes to experience the magic of a professional green screen!
A huge shout-out to our science teachers, Ms. DeRosa and Ms. Angelli, whose hard work in the classroom truly prepared our students to shine. We also want to extend a sincere thank you to the Madison Education Foundation for sponsoring such an enriching and high-energy assembly.
During the MEF Gala in October, a prize was raffled off to be Principal for the Day at MJS. On Friday, Charlie "CC" Russo officially served as our Principal for the Day. At the end of the day CC finalized and presented her Official Proclamation for a Spirit day next Friday February 6th which will be a School Wide Pajama Day.

A big thank you to our office secretary, Ms. Kelly for continuing to take the time to organize these items so we can get them back to their owners. Below are pictures of all the current items we have in our lost and found. If you notice a item that belongs to your child please have them go to the office to check in with Ms. Kelly before picking up their item. Thank you for your assistance in getting these items back to their owners.

In Madison, we utilize a 1:1 Chromebook model where all students (grades 6-12) receive a district owned Chromebook to utilize during the school day and at home. While there is no cost for the use of the Chromebook, it is important that Chromebooks be maintained and handled in a responsible way. As we continue to move through the school year, we wanted to utilize this time as a reminder for our students and families about the importance of handling Chromebooks with care to prevent damage to the device. The district has expectations and protocols that are listed on the district website that we continue to follow at the building level.
We would like to highlight the specific section regarding lost and damaged chromebooks as a reminder to all parents and guardians:
In the event a Chromebook, case, or charger is lost or damaged beyond repair and deemed to be intentional, excessive, neglectful or student misuse, parents/guardians are responsible for paying the cost of replacement equipment.
Costs:
Chromebook (damaged beyond repair) - $365.00
Broken Screen - $90.00
Broken Keyboard - $70.00
Charger - $47.00
Case - $20.00
Other - Will be quoted by the Tech Department
Note: Final assessment of damage and fines are determined by the Technology Department.
Students are also responsible for the care of any loaners they use. Damage to loaners is subject to the same rules as permanently assigned Chromebooks.
In case of theft, parents/guardians are required to file a formal police report with the Madison Police Department.
Below are the direct links from the district website that pertains to Chromebook care and protocols followed for lost/damaged Chromebooks.
