Wednesday, October 11th is SUPER TESTING DAY for all 9th-11th grade students. Students will either be taking the fall PSAT 8/9 (9th grade) or PSAT NMSQT (10th & 11th grade).

Students should arrive to school by 8:15 a.m., as testing will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m.  Testing for 10th-11th grade should be completed by noon, and 9th grade should be done by approximately 11:30 a.m. However, testing times vary depending on the test.

There is NO SCHOOL for 7th, 8th, & 12th grade students that day.

As part of JA's 30th Anniversary year long celebration, we will continue to have spirit days leading up to the Gala. On Friday of this week all campuses are encouraged to "Dress Like it is 1993!"

PRINCIPAL NOTES

It's official – The October Count Window for Colorado opens this week. October Count is the official student membership headcount for all Colorado public school districts. When students are enrolled, scheduled and in attendance as of the official count day, JA receives funding to support our students and our school. The most important action you can take to support school funding is to ensure your student attends during the two-week window and specifically on Monday, October 2nd. Much of public education funding from the State of Colorado is based on student count, so we encourage you to be sure your student engages in school on Monday, October 2nd. Thank you for supporting JA. Every student counts!

High School

Boys Golf- The boys golf season came to an end this week. The qualifying score for State was an 82 and we had three players within reach. Kaleb King shot an 84, Jackson Stillman shot an 85, and Jackson Tomalak shot an 86. They played in a very large, tough regional tournament with a lot of very, very good players. We are proud of the hard work they put in this season.

Volleyball- The girls played a very good Prospect Ridge team on Tuesday. PRA took an early lead by winning the first two sets and JA rallied back to win the next three sets to claim the match. The team remains undefeated on the season.

Junior High

Cross County- Both the boys and girls team have continued to perform very well. The boys team brought home 3rd and the girls team placed 4th at the Denver North Invite. The will run in two races next week to prep them for the league meet that will take place at Anthem Park on 10/5.

Volleyball- The girls continue the grow and improve under the guidance of Coach Severence. The A-team had their first loss against a tough Stargate team on Tuesday. B and C teams both had wins. The girls honored teachers and staff before their games on Thursday. What a great way to show the teachers that they are appreciated.

Soccer- Junior high boys soccer has had some highs and lows. They continue to grow and figure out placement on the field how to work together as a team.

Junior High Boys Basketball

Does your student have team sports/basketball listed on their schedule for 2nd quarter during D block? If so, now is the time to make sure your athlete has a current physical so they play. Registration is currently open for junior high boys basketball. Your student athlete will not be able to play until they have all registration forms and sports physical uploaded. First day of practice will be October 16th. Please reach out to the athletic department if you have any questions.
