JANUARY 12, 2024

Just a reminder, there is no school on Monday, January 15th for MLK day; we will see you Tuesday with a regular start time.

PRINCIPAL NOTES

This past week JA was honored by Jeffco for having one of the district's highest 2023 graduation rate at 98%. A superb accomplishment for not only our students, but the families who support them and the K-12 teachers who provide engaging and rigorous instruction throughout our student's school years. We recognize the tremendous effort that our students put into their academics which ultimately leads to the college and career ready students that leave JA. You can see more on the district website

Thank you to all who filled out the School Accountability Survey last semester. You can peruse the results which JA's leadership team will use to adjust practices to better meet the needs of our community. Know that your voices are heard and we do our best to respond to all insight.

In the next week, you will receive a survey from Jeffco sent through School Messenger. The Panorama Family Survey provides information district-wide as well as specifically for our campus and is a valuable tool for continuous improvement.

REMINDERS

Inclement Weather Closures/Delays – Follow Jeffco Schools

In light of the incoming cold weather, it is a great reminder to review options available to families for inclement weather.  Jefferson Academy follows Jeffco Public Schools for closures and delays.  We will also post it on our website and official social media pages.  In the event of a delayed start, first period classes will not meet and A block will begin at 10:25am.  Faculty and staff are expected to come to the building as safely and quickly as possible. As always, families with young drivers can choose to keep students home with an excused absence.  Please contact the attendance line to notify our office of any absence or tardy due to weather.

Pick up and Drop off Reminders

Just a reminder for the safety of our students and staff, please do not pick up your student in any of the main roads, in the middle of the crosswalks, or at the main intersection. We appreciate parents waiting to pick up students inside the parking lot, next to a sidewalk, or a designated pick-up area. Drivers and our adult supervision cannot see students when they run in and out of traffic. Please be patient keeping safety in mind for all stakeholders.

Student Drivers

Any student who is driving to JA and parking in the school lot is expected to have a JA Parking permit. Parking pass forms can be picked up in the main office and payment can be made online through the Infinite Campus parent portal. Students parking without a permit on school grounds are subject to tickets and fines from JA.

Lost and Found Items
Is your student missing a jacket? What about a lunch box? Maybe their right shoe? As you may know, our Lost & Found team is one of the busiest teams in the building. So far this semester...just over a week in...we're already overflowing! If you think that your student has misplaced an item recently, please come and check out the lost items. We will be donating ALL of our lost & found items (including items from last December) at the end of next week.
