August 4th, 2023 Edition

August 15th

The first day of school for all students at Jefferson Academy will be on August 15th. Students will attend shortened classes and will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.

PRINCIPAL NOTES

What an amazing community we are all a part of. As we have begun to see staff coming back to the school to prepare for the year, families and students reaching out about class schedules, and athletes training for the fall season, it is a clear reminder of how within the school setting we get to renew each year.

I truly believe it takes a strong partnership with our community and families to ensure our students have the best possible high school experience. Thank you to our parents, guardians, staff, coaches, community, volunteers, and Boosters for developing a school culture that puts students at the heart of all we do.

I look forward to partnering with you and your students throughout the upcoming year.

Online Registration and Annual Update - REQUIRED for all Jeffco Schools
All families (new and returning) must complete the Annual Update in Infinite Campus Parent Portal to verify household, student  and emergency contact information, as well as sign agreements. This is also the only time that parents can update their opt out information with the district. Here is a help guide: Family help Guide - Annual Update

Complete JA Secondary's Registration Documents

Beginning July 31st, visit secondary.jajags.com to also complete JA Secondary's registration documents, upload medical forms, and submit meal applications.  Fees can be paid online, beginning August 2nd, through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal (under the more tab).  Click the "Registration" button on the homepage our website for links to all our documents.

Course Fees are Now Available

Please check Infinite Campus in the next few days to pay your course and school fees. Any fee that has OPT in the description is an optional fee and you only need to pay it if your student is participating in that activity.

Why are my School Fees so Expensive?

School fees allow us to provide enhanced educational experiences to our students and families to offset the funding differences between charter and district-managed schools. Rather than provide exhaustive supply lists, teachers will assess a course fee that covers many consumable items used throughout the course.

Why is there a Technology Fee if I have to provide my own Device?

The technology fee allows us to purchase the most up-to-date software programs, maintain a smooth network of wi-fi access, and provide technology infrastructure and filtering programs to keep our students safe and productive while online.

What is the Difference Between Canvas and Campus?

Our teachers use a learning management program, Canvas. Parents may set up an account to monitor their student’s class activity.  If you set up an account, you can email your student’s teachers directly, view upcoming assignments, and view their grades. Canvas is managed by Jefferson Academy. Information about how to set up a CANVAS account is on our website. Infinite Campus is an platform where families may pay fees, view final course grades (without details), update contact information, and track attendance. Parents and students will also have separate accounts. Infinite Campus is managed by Jeffco Public Schools.
