Parent Teacher Conferences will be held the evening of Wednesday, October 11th. Mark your calendars for this wonderful opportunity to meet and check in with your student's teachers. Specific details will come the week prior to the event.
We hope you made the most of Back to School Night. Our teachers have relayed how much they enjoy the opportunity to meet with families and share how wonderful your children are in an unstructured setting. Teachers at JA are accessible throughout the year, not just during BTSN and Parent/Teacher Conferences, for in-person meetings or a phone conference. Contact your student's teacher by emailing them directly to set up a convenient time.
Also during BTSN, we hosted our Activities Fair with over 20 clubs represented. No matter what your child's grade or interest we believe there is a place for them at JA to get involved and connect with other students. Thank you to the student leaders and staff sponsors who help promote ways for our students to engage in positive and meaningful ways. Students who would like more information about club offerings can stop by the Main Office.
The deadline for paying the participation fee is today (8/25/23) in Infinite Campus. If we do not receive payment, your student-athlete will not be able to compete in contests until the payment is received. If your family is in need of a payment plan, please contact our business manager, Craig Melville, at cmelville@jajags.com.
High School and Junior High Sports
Congratulations to all of our sports that have participated over the past week. Volleyball had a very strong showing at Colorado Springs Christian and won an exciting match that went to five sets. Our junior high A-team volleyball survived after losing their first set to Flatirons and finished strong winning the next two. Girls softball took care of business against Jefferson High School with a commanding 22-12 win. The high school boys soccer team played a tough game against Aurora West Prep and finished with a 0-0 tie. Golfers are playing well in all tournaments, getting better each round. High school cross country is competing today and I'm sure they are all running very strong.
Sporting Events
Sporting events can be found by visiting the rSchool Calendar.
Eligibility
We will be pulling grades for weekly eligibility starting on August 31st. Eligibility report is pulled on Thursday mornings. If the student athlete has one F, they cannot play the following week, Monday through Saturday. If there is a mistake by the teacher, it is the responsibility of the student-athlete to work with his/her teacher to get all grades in question back to satisfactory status. Neither the Athletic Director nor the Coach will intervene on the student's behalf. Please have your student visit the athletic office to obtain an Eligibility Correction Form. You can find more information on page 14 in the Parent/Student Handbook. If your child is struggling with grades, please let us know so we can put a support system in place.

Did you know that 2024 is Jefferson Academy's 30th Anniversary? On January 27, 2024, the Foundation for JA will be hosting a Gala to honor and celebrate this milestone (more details to come soon). In addition to the Gala, JA Spirit Days will take place each month on (or close to) the 30th of the month, in order to celebrate the 30th anniversary, involve students, and build excitement. On Wednesday, August 30th we will have our first Spirit Day of the year and the theme is JA BLACK AND GOLD! Students and staff are encouraged to wear their JA logo gear or black/gold clothing that day. Dress code rules still apply.
This year many colleges will come to JA to visit with students to share general information about campus, the admission process, and to answer any questions students may have. For the first semester, these are open to juniors and seniors. These visits are a fabulous way to learn about a variety of schools, what they have to offer, and if it’s a good fit for the student.
Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Savannah, GA, will be here on Tuesday, August 29th.
Interested in playing sports in college?

Student planners are now available outside the Main Office for 9th-11th graders.
Tutoring Available
The student tutoring list has now been updated for 2023-2024.
If you are interested in connecting your student with a student tutor, please fill out the form on the JA website. Once we have received your request, we will pass along your information so a tutor can contact you. Please work out all details (time, place, frequency, payment) with that tutor.
Student tutors are $15/hr.
If your assigned tutor is unable to meet when needed, or you do not hear from a tutor within a week of completing the form, contact Mrs. Adams at kadams@jajags.com.
A list of private tutors is available on the Student Support Services webpage, should you wish to pursue a different option.
Please also keep in mind that your student's teacher is the best resource, and all teachers have Office Hours. Office Hours are also listed on the Student Support Services webpage.
Just a reminder for the safety of our students and staff, please do not pick up your student in any of the main roads or in the middle of the crosswalks or intersection. We appreciate parents waiting to pick up students inside the parking lot, next to a sidewalk or a designated pick up area. Drivers and our our adult supervision cannot see students when they run in and out of traffic. Please be patient keeping safety in mind for all stakeholders.
We enjoy having our community in the building and are looking for individuals to support our students with hearing and vision screening on September 27th from 8:00-11:30 a.m. If you are interested reach out Ms. Bott at abott@jajajgs.com

Paqui One Chip Challenge
There have been a number of students this week who have visited 7-11 and/or neighboring gas stations and have purchased a product Paqui One Chip Challenge. These are absolutely NOT ALLOWED on Jefferson Academy School grounds. The safety and security of our students is of utmost importance and these are not deemed school appropriate or safe!
