April 12, 2024
Consistent attendance is vital to the academic success of all students. With spring underway, we have recently noticed an increase in absenteeism. Presence in school ensures that students have access to valuable learning opportunities and the support needed to thrive. Let's work together to prioritize attendance and ensure every student can reach their full potential.
PRINCIPAL NOTES
JA takes great pride on being not only an excellent academic school, but a community that connects all stakeholders in a variety of ways. This spring has been amazing to see so many extra-curricular clubs supporting those in our neighborhoods and providing events for our kids to connect with their peers. Our student leaders have created volunteer opportunities to make JA and its students visible and well-respected in the eyes of the community. By fostering these connections, we aim to create a sense of continuity and shared experiences among past and present families. With that goal in mind, we are regularly looking to connect with alumni to join us and give back to current students in the way others supported them during their time at JA. If you know any JA graduates, please share this alumni link with them so we can connect.

ACTIVITIES
Hope House Supply Drive
Key Club is holding a supply drive from March 26th to April 16th for Hope House in Arvada. Hope house empowers parenting teenage moms to strive for personal and economic self-sufficiency as well as support in a healthy future for them and for their children. Key Club is collection supplies such as diapers, baby wipes, and hygiene supplies for the student-mothers. The drive is a competition between A-block classes and the class with the most donations will win bagels and a gift card for their teacher.
JH "Not Prom" Party Help
As students enter Junior High we know parents want to continue to support their kids and get into the school for events. We have just the the opportunity to make this happen early next month on Friday, May 3rd. On this date from 12:30 p.m. to 1:40 p.m., we will treat our junior high students to an informal party, while high school kids are having their prom assembly. Maybe we'll call it the "Not Prom" party. :-).
Student planners are looking to have indoor and outdoor games and activities available for the students and we need volunteers to help make it happen. You can sign up here to let student organizers know you can help out. There will also be snacks for sale in the concession stand in the commons. Some ideas of ways you can contribute might include:
Bringing and/or supervising games (cornhole, 4 square, Spikeball, board games, etc.) You would need to arrive to check in at the office and set up your game around 12:10, which will be during the end of high school lunch.
If you can come and supervise a game but not bring one, that would be great, too.
Decorations; creative people, go for it. We cannot have balloons, but any other ideas, just shoot them to Mrs. Babcock.
People who can assist with clean-up, as the teachers all have to go right back to class.
Help out with selling snacks in the concession stand (not hotdogs, popcorn or nachos, just the packaged snacks)
Thank you for considering. If we can get enough family support, we'll let the kids know it will happen! Feel free to email Mrs. Babcok at ebabcock@jajags.com if you have questions or ideas.
