December 15, 2023

This will be the last Newsletter for 2023. Our next JA Newsletter will come out on January 3rd. Students return to JA from Winter Break on January 4th. The 1st day of semester 2, Thursday, January 4th will be a late start day. There will be no First Period and students A-Block will begin at 10:25 a.m.

On January 4th, the doors to JA will open at 9:30 a.m. returning to their normal opening time of 7:25 a.m. on Friday January 5th.

Over winter break would be a good time for students to access their new schedules, acclimate with the change in routines and determine where they will be starting their day as it may be different from the Fall Semester

PRINCIPAL NOTES

As we approach the end of the 1st semester, we want to express our gratitude for your continued support and partnership. It has been a tremendous start to the school year filled with growth, learning, and memorable moments. As the academic demands wind down, we'd like to take a moment to remind everyone about the importance of self-care. This time of year can bring a mix of emotions, from relief to excitement, and even a touch of stress. Here are a few tips to help you and your family navigate this busy time:

Celebrate Achievements: Take time to acknowledge and celebrate your child's accomplishments, big or small. They have put a ton of effort into their schoolwork and checking on those grades in Infinite Campus(I.C.) lets them know you recognize it. Also, for our new to JA families, be aware we do not send home report cards, but rather grades are posted in I.C.
Plan Family Time: Of course the holidays are full of time with family. However, with the bustling nature of getting prepared, we can miss the opportunity to create some lasting memories. Attending A Jag event, as a family, like Seussical tomorrow at 2 p.m. or 7 p.m is an option or you can wait until Wednesday or Thursday night since students do not have school the next day to catch a Jags basketball game on the road at Colorado Academy or Wellington.
Rest and Recharge: Ensure everyone takes a moment to rest and recharge. A well-deserved break can do wonders for mental and physical well-being. Plus, this year our winter break is shorter than normal  so we will be back at school before you know it; albeit a late start of 10:25 for students first day back. Remember, taking care of yourselves is just as important as supporting your child's education. We appreciate your dedication and wish everyone a wonderful and rejuvenating holiday break.

JH Boys Basketball

The teams will finish up their season tonight as the A and B teams will both play in the semi-finals of the MSAL basketball tournament. If they win, they will advance to the finals. A-Team will be playing just down the road at The Academy and B-Team will be playing at Boulder Country Day. We are so proud of all their hard work this season. It has been a pleasure to watch them grow and get better in each game they played. We have a lot of young talent and the future looks bright for all of these players and the basketball program as a whole.

HS Basketball

Both boys' and girls' programs have started off strong this season. The girls are 3-1 and the boys are 4-0. They will both play Liberty Common tomorrow on the road. We wish them all luck and safe travels to Ft. Collins.

The girls Varsity and JV teams took part in a fun, foundation game yesterday at Ball Arena. All girls in the program got the chance to play on the Denver Nuggets floor. What a great venue to play in front of friends and family.

Activities

CU Women's Law Caucus

Every year, the Women's Law Caucus at Colorado Law invites high school and undergraduate students across Colorado to Boulder to learn about law school, discover legal career opportunities, and envision themselves pursuing this advanced degree. The goal of Women in Law Day is to encourage young women of all backgrounds to consider a career in law. If you are interested you can RSVP using WiLD 2024 Interest Form.

HEALTH

How to Keep Kids Healthy This Holiday Season

The holidays are a joyous time filled with family bonding, delicious food and memories that last a lifetime. However, the busyness of this special time can also make it hard to focus on staying healthy. Stress, colds and extra sugar can all threaten to make this season memorable for the wrong reasons. In this article, our partners at Children’s Hospital Colorado explain some of the best ways families can help their kids stay active, eat a balanced diet and avoid getting sick.

Creating Holiday Traditions

Did you know that creating holiday traditions can help you build connections with your kids AND it's good for their mental health While holidays may feel stressful and busy for many adults, connecting and creating memories with your child is what they will remember. Here are some ways to help your child feel a deeper sense of belonging:

REMINDERS

Finals are Monday, December 18th and Tuesday, December 19th and both days are early releases.  Please make plans to pick up your student(s) by noon each day.  Students who are not picked up by noon, will need to sit in the office until a parent picks them up.  Here is the finals schedule: FINALS

Enrolljeffco opened December 5th for the 2024-2025 school year. All current JA families need to complete the Intent to Return form by January 12th, so we know your student is returning to JA. If your student will not be returning to JA next year, you still need to log into enrolljeffco.org to indicate the change in enrollment.  Click HERE for a step by step guide to help you with the process.

If you have a current senior who will be graduating in the spring of 2024, you do not need to do anything in system.

Please contact our Registrar Anne Leoni (aleoni@jajags.com) with questions.
