PRINCIPAL NOTES
Jefferson Academy is one of the finest institutions in the state. We see this day in and day out with the wonderful young men and women you are raising at home and we get to work with at school each day. A key factor that contributes to the success of charter schools is the active participation of parents in their children’s education. Parent engagement benefits the students and plays a crucial role in charter schools’ overall effectiveness and accomplishments. One of the opportunities to engage is with our JA Board that will meet this Tuesday at 6 p.m. You can attend in person at Summit Academy; 7575 West 103rd Avenue, Westminster; or join virtually to observe their work. Attending allows you to see the contribution that a Charter Board provides our students as well as learn about ways to get involved in this great community.
ATHLETICS
Spring Sports are Just Around the Corner
Registration for spring sports will open on February 12th. Make sure your physical is up to date in our system. We won't be able to clear students for participation if physicals expire before tryouts. Speaking of tryouts, Girls Golf will start on 2/19, all other spring sports will begin on 2/26. For specific information about sports, please reach out to the head coach. You can find emails on our athletics website at www.jaathletics.com.
High School Basketball
Varsity boys and girls basketball will play their last regular season home games tonight at 5:30 and 7:00. Please join us as we celebrate our seniors that have given so much to the program. The Lady Jags are still in the running to host the first round of playoffs on Tuesday, 2/20. This would be the first time in over a decade that the girls will host a home playoff game. Watch socials for more updates. The boys' team is on the bubble of making the post season so both teams need your support.
High School Girls Golf
Girls golf will begin this coming Monday, 2/19. If you are interested in playing golf, reach out to our new coach, Coach Severance at girlsgolf@jajags.com. You must have your registration and physical in before your first practice.
Junior High Baseball
It is that time of year again, spring is right around the corner and it won't be long until the kids hit the pools for summer and school is long in the rearview mirror, but until that time, baseball has arrived. Junior high baseball is returning and is right around the corner. There will be an informational meeting for parents and athletes on Tuesday, February 27th at 4:30 in the secondary commons. NEW THIS YEAR....6th grade is allowed to partake, so we are inviting any 6th grade baseball players to come as well. The reason for this will be explained at the meeting. We are looking forward to a fun season and I hope to see all those interested in not only learning the game, but growing the JA baseball brand. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Kirkley at nkirkley@jajags.com. We will see you on the 27th!
