This is an exciting week at JA, as Thursday will be Career Day, where Jefferson Academy invites over 25 individuals to come to our campus and share with students their career path and opportunities that exist post-graduation. Career Day gives students an up-close look at different career paths and connects their learning to the real world. Many of our presenters are family members of current students and alumni returning to share how JA helped them achieve their goals and led to their current careers. It is a fantastic opportunity for kids to learn details about necessary education and training for career success. Meanwhile, students get the chance to listen to presenters, ask questions, and consider what careers pique their interest. I hope that you will make it a point to check in with them Thursday evening, to inquire about what they heard and if any presentations pushed them to consider next steps.

Following career day will be a four-day weekend for students with professional learning for teachers on Friday and President's Day on Monday.

Junior high baseball is returning and is right around the corner. There will be an informational meeting for parents and athletes on Tuesday, February 27th at 4:30 in the secondary commons. STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

Interested in Taking College Classes in the 2024-2025 school year?

There are two mandatory meetings in the upcoming weeks for students interested in becoming a Concurrent Enrollment (CE) student and taking college courses for the first time.  This includes current 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th grade students who have never taken a CE/college course.

A concurrent enrollment student is a 9th-12th grade student enrolled at JA and our partner institution of higher education, Front Range Community College.  If the requirements of the program are met, JA will pay the tuition portion of those college courses. Students are responsible for fees and books, including technology costs. There are specific criteria to qualify for Concurrent Enrollment courses which will be reviewed in detail at the meetings.  Qualifications include being academically ready (all A’s and B’s), having high social maturity, strong attendance, and a desire to work hard.  Concurrent Enrollment needs to be a student led process.

Meeting Information: You must attend both meetings and qualify to take college courses.

This annual process will be your only opportunity to take college courses for the 2024 - 2025 academic year.

Course Fees Reminder

Parking Reminders - Drive and Park with Excellence

This is a friendly reminder to all students and parents parking in the school lot to drive with excellence - meaning, be responsible and safe drivers at all times.  We have had several incidents in the past few weeks of dangerous driving and speeding in the parking lot, both before and after school when pedestrians are present.  This is dangerous and may result in a ticket.   Please obey all traffic laws on the road and in the parking lot, for the safety of our students and staff, and please be kind to the staff in those yellow safety vests!
