Unfortunately, the Student Fee portion of the Infinite Campus system is still not working properly for JA Secondary, so we are unable to collect student and course fees at this time. We will communicate with families when fees are open and you are able to pay them. We are still requesting that student drivers complete the paperwork for parking permits and they can pay later. Thank you for your continued patience with this issue.
It was spectacular to meet so many of our families at Open House this week. It took me until Thursday to wash the smell of hot dogs and burgers off. You would have thought the rain and wind would have helped me out, but to no avail. It really is wonderful getting to formally meet the parents and guardians who are raising the wonderful students that attend JA each day. We get to know each of them so closely, but do not often get the opportunity to connect the adults with the students. Additionally, we understand the trust given to us when you send your children to school each day and do not take that lightly. One of JA's strategic goals this year is Connected Community and Tuesday night was just the start of what we hope will be a continued partnership for years to come.
Speaking of Connected Community, the first Jefferson Academy Board meeting of the 2024-25 school year will be Tuesday night, August 20th, at 6:00 p.m. You can attend in person at Summit Academy Westminster(7575 West 103rd Avenue, Suite 100) or connect virtually for all JA Board Meetings. Jefferson Academy highly values parental involvement knowing that families want to be part of their child's educational community. Participating in the monthly board meetings is a great way to do so.
Additionally, the following Monday, August 26th, we will be hosting Curriculum Night at 5:30 p.m. This event will start with a whole school presentation; learning about JA's identity and our hopes and desires for your student. Starting at 6 p.m., teachers will be available to share about what your child will experience over their JA careers in each academic department. This evening is not meant for families to meet specifically with their child's current teachers, but rather learn more about each department as a whole, and what their mission for student learning will look like over their time attending JA.

Walk, run or skip across the finish line at the Jag Jog, a fun event for the JA community. Sponsored by the Foundation for JA, this family-favorite, K-12 community event features a timed 5K, 1-Mile Family Dash and a Community Expo on the elementary campus August 24th @ 9 a.m. This year we have added food trucks (items available for purchase) and other fun family options. It will take place on the elementary campus, with the race portions on the Dry Creek Trail.

Secondary's Attendance procedures have changed. You can now report all absences online!
Parents will log into their Infinite Campus Parent Portal account and hit the Absence Request button, or go to the secondary website and click on the Attendance link. If you are wanting to pick up your student early, please call the office or leave a message for one of the office staff. Click HERE for instructions.
Both breakfast and lunch will be provided free to all JA students this year. Families that are eligible for free and reduced lunch, however, should still complete the Student Benefits Application to receive free access to other district programs and services. Previously called the "Free and Reduced Lunch form" or "Meal Benefits Application," it can be found on the district website and submitted electronically before the school year begins.
Student class schedules for Q1 are now final. All students should be in the correct Canvas classes. If not, please have your student communicate with individual teachers.
Student Planners
All 7th-11th grade students receive a student planner, included in yearly fees. Planners are helpful in supporting organizational skills, tracking assignments/projects/assessments, and allowing parents to see day-to-day happenings.
7th -8th graders will receive their planner on Monday in one of their classes.
9th-11th graders can pick up their planner from the tables located outside the Main Office starting on Monday.
All parents have accounts within Canvas, our learning management system, using their email account from the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If you need to access your parent account, click on this link for instructions for downloading the app and logging into your account. Canvas for Parents
Students who are new to JA, or have a new device, have the first two weeks of school to register their new device with Ms. Davis in room 202. She will be available before school and after school for registering devices. As a reminder, JA uses a SonicWall firewall to monitor and filter activity and content for students when they are in school and attached to the school network. Per the technology acceptable use policy, VPNs are not allowed on the school network. It is up to each family to decide how to filter and monitor devices when they are not attached to the school network.
It is important for all Jefferson Academy families to complete the registration process for their student(s) at the start of each school year.
