The data issues our campus experienced in the first quarter also effected our ability to pull honor roll from the Spring 2024 semester. We are pleased to share that the data has been restored and verified, so we are now able to run honor roll from last year. To expedite the process of distributing Academic letters and honor roll certificates, we will be handing out certificates directly to students this week, rather than waiting for a ceremony. Our hope is to get your student their awards quickly, especially for those families wanting to order letter jackets for the holidays. Thank you for your patience and support in in working through this process.
Our Jags continue to thrive and impress us in classrooms, on stage, at competitions, and in our community. Providing healthy and engaging opportunities for students is an essential part of what we do at JA. With the start of the 2nd quarter this is a great time to check in with your child on new courses and how their semester classes are coming along. It is always wonderful to see our students taking advantage of such exceptional student experiences both during the school day and at after school co-curricular events.
Additionally, with fall weather finally upon us I want to reiterate that we follow Jeffco Public Schools in regards to weather closures and late starts. Information will be communicated via messenger emails, phone calls in addition to local news stations and social media when Jeffco makes a decision around an altered school day and JA align to that decision.

In June 2022, Governor Polis signed into law Colorado House Bill 22-1358: Clean Water in Schools and Child Care Centers. This bill requires all licensed child care programs and public schools to test their drinking water for lead and take action when results show levels of lead at or above 5 parts per billion (ppb). The goal of this law is to lower children’s exposure to lead. To meet these requirements, Jefferson Academy Secondary has tested for lead at all water fixtures used for drinking and cooking.
Results Summary:
28 Fixtures were tested
28 Fixtures had lead results that tested below 5 ppb - no further action is required
0 Fixtures had lead results that tested at or above 5 ppb
You can view the detailed sample results and remediation status at this link. Results may take up to 3 days to be posted on this webpage. Protecting the health and wellbeing of Colorado’s children is our top priority, and we will keep you updated during the process at Jefferson Academy Secondary. If you have questions or concerns about our facility and the actions we are taking, please contact Ryan Stadler at rstadler@jajags.com,cbott@jajags.com .
Schools/child care facilities that have lead results in drinking water above 5 parts per billion (ppb) must take action to reduce exposure to lead. When lead is found at or above 5 ppb, the fixture is shut off while a more long-term solution is underway. These solutions may include permanently removing the fixture from service, designating a fixture as “not for drinking”, replacing drinking water faucets or fountains, or installing filters. For the fixtures where lead is found below 5 ppb, we will follow routine practices to further lower potential exposure.
Lead is a toxic metal that is especially harmful to young children. The degree of risk depends on the child’s total exposure to lead from all environmental sources – air, soil, dust, food, paint, consumer products, and water. Typically old or corroded lead plumbing or old brass fixtures can contribute to increased lead levels in drinking water. If you are concerned about your child’s exposure you can have their blood tested. Please contact your health provider to learn more about testing your child’s blood for lead.
