Production Updates
SCC and Procurement
The SCC Team had yesterday a workshop with the Procurement team. We had some good conversations about our collaboration, how we can improve and what is going well. On the Incident management and supplier communication component, a lot of input has been provided by both teams. Currently, a project has been launched related to supplier performance and how we can address this internally to make our suppliers deliver better. We are going to work hard with the input we gathered from this meeting to take the processes that stand to the next level.
Load Carrier Forecasting
This week we have another exciting update for you regarding Load Carrier Management!
We have started forecasting (predicting) the amount of Load Carriers/Fust we will receive from our supplier on what exact days. We are currently only doing this for 1 category type of Load Carriers, which is the CBL type. This is due to the fact that CBL is the Load Carrier type we have issues with regarding inventory levels.
We are currently "shadow running" the forecasts, which means that we are already forecasting the amounts, but are currently evaluating the accuracy of our forecasts before acting on this data. If these forecasts are deemed accurate enough, we will start sharing this data with our suppliers and other parties involved in our Load Carrier retour process.
Forecasting the incoming CBL amounts will allow us to plan transport to return these crates to the suppliers in advance. Which means that we'd be able to greatly reduce our inventory levels/ the amount of Load Carriers we have in the Fusthal and help us progress in Safety & Operational Excellence by:
1. Your safety: We received a lot of notifications about the height of the stacked pallets in the fusthal. Recently we have already switched to stacking 2 high (instead of 3), which has been going really well, but still isn't always feasible to do. Reducing our inventory levels should allow us to keep a maximum stacking height of 2 full pallets at all times, even in the weekends😀, which will push us another step forward towards creating a more safe working environment for all!
2. Process optimization: forecasting will allow us to make efficient use of our space by balancing our inbound and outbound flow of load carriers and thus reduce our inventory levels. This will not only help with safety, but will also help drastically reduce the time it takes to count all the load carriers during our daily and weekly cycle counts since there will be less to count!
Safety & process efficiency are our key factors here. We are not there yet, but are trying to make the work environment more safe and efficient.
We will keep you posted on the progression of this initiative!
Update Project Gogeta
Couple of weeks back we had a brainstorm with operations on the project Gogeta. What is Project Gogeta ? It is a project to increase our multi brand capabilities within our production the most efficient as most possible (cost and productivity wise mainly).
The goal is also to define a model that is as much possible standard and scalable for future growth of the different brands. Today every brand has its own way of producing (stacking, dedicated routes, HFM pick to light...) and this is not cost efficient nor scalable.
Short term we will look into the possibility to remove the wine line, to increase the stacking capacity. Mid term we have been working together with Engineering on defining a model for double injection at the assembly line for the different brands.
The next months, before Engineering is developing the tools in Q2 2024 we will focus on making a calculation on the impact of this solution on our production planning, production processes, pallets spaces etc. We want to have a #datadriven decision as much as possible to promote our DNAs!
Feel free to reach out if you want to have more details!
BNL Support for France
Last two weeks, Simon, our Opex Error Analyst, has been supporting the French team on their error categorization process. The benelux team has therefore shared their knowledge and best practices to the opex international team and the French team to allow them to have more accurate error %. Sharing best practices and helping other markets is part our mission at Opex and linked to our DNA #learningneverstops
Trainings & Development
Mint Mentoring Program Q4
Applications to the Mint Mentoring program in Q4 are open! HelloFresh employees can apply to become a mentor or mentee, or both. You can read more about the program below. Applications close on October 4.
Objectives
To promote knowledge and skill sharing across the HelloFresh Group
To provide opportunities for senior employees to develop leadership skills
To provide space for role models from traditionally underrepresented groups
To enable productive relationships and a proactive learning culture
How does it work
You apply either as mentor, a mentee, or both. You will pick the topics you wish to mentor and/or want to be mentored on.
The Mint team will then help you pair up based on the topics both mentor and mentee have selected, and kick it off.
Both mentors and mentees will have access to material on how to make the mentorship a successful one, and mentees will also have access to group experience sharing sessions.
Where do I sign up for the Mint Mentoring program?
All you need to do is to fill out this application form by October 4th 2023. If you are unsure of how to use the application form, please take a look at this instruction deck. You will hear from the Mint team within three weeks about the next steps.
Please note: Since mentor and administrative capacity are limited, the Mint team will not be able to pair up everyone. They will first serve who comes first. The team does not currently have the capacity to maintain a queue. It’s always easier to get matched if you also volunteer to mentor.

Using Ultimo
For a while now, it's possible to make your own report in Ultimo with the use of the tablet which is stationed in the canteen. When you make a report in Ultimo, you have two options to choose from: you can either choose to 'create a report' or to 'report a safety incident'.
If you choose the first option, the facility- or the technical department will solve your report. This option should be chosen whenever there is, for example, a defect on the production floor or something needs to be cleaned.
The second option will be taken up by the HSE department. This option should be chosen whenever there has been an unsafe situation or an incident on the production floor. So for example, when an emergency exit is blocked by pallets, you should report this in Ultimo.
Please make sure to choose the right option, we do not want to lose your report in the mix-up!
Vitality Week Tips
Nightshifts have been known to have big effects on our body and health. Because of that, here are 5 tips to stay healthy while working nightshifts:
1. Avoid fast sugars. These quick sugars make you tired, because they peak in your blood sugar levels. You should choose the healthy alternatives!
2. Eat at regular times. A regular diet is important - especially when working at night. Stick to regular mealtimes, with light, protein-rich foods at the start of your shift and carbs at the end to help your sleep.
3. Practice good sleep hygiene. avoid heavy meals before bedtime, protect your eyes from sunlight and nap if that is needed.
4. Ensure sufficient exercise. Sufficient exercise helps you sleep better when working at night. Physical exertion has a mentally relaxing effect and makes it easier to fall asleep. However, avoid intensive exercise just before going to sleep.
5. Make good agreements. Manage noise and prioritize personal time by informing others about your night work, silencing devices, and making time for family and friends.
