Production updates
Pre-Op-Check
Another update on the “clean connect” project.
We have been testing extensively with the IT team recently.We tested the functionality and workability of the system and did not encounter any major issues.
IT has been testing it with the tablets they also use for KanBan and WMS.
Since IT is the only team that works with tablets, I have been working with production to look at the possibilities of implementing it for them as well.
We have come to the following conclusion:
A total of three tablets will be installed at the two charging areas for the EPTs.
Two tablets will be installed at the large charging area near the TD room.
One tablet will be installed at the charging area near consolidation.
Next steps:
Tomorrow (8 August), all seniors will receive a brief explanation of how the system works.
- How can they unlock the EPTs using the questionnaire?
- What to do if it doesn't work?
- What to do if an EPT is not in the charging area?
So that they can explain it to the rest of the employees.
Further planning:
On Wednesday 13 August, all EPTs will be locked using the pre-op check.
From that moment on, every employee who wants to drive an EPT or do his/her work on another EPT will first have to complete the questionnaire.
By implementing the system on every EPT, we want to gain a better understanding of the malfunctions.
Weekly SCC update
Last week, Renee and Romee attended the HelloFresh Pop-up store at Utrecht Centraal as promoters of our brand! They did this together with other colleagues from different departments. Both managed to do surveys and sell boxes to non-customers. It was a successful day!
Last week, we had a huge incident with our supplier Hessing. They delivered sweet potato cubes on Friday morning, which got rejected. The redelivery got rejected again, which left us with no other options unfortunately. Therefore, we decided to cancel all orders of sweet potato cubes in BW31, and giving customers instead normal sweet potatoes. This had an impact on 9199 customers. Our colleagues from Procurement are looking into this incident to claim the compensated amount from Hessing.
Dock Safety System trial period
Last Tuesday, a Dock Safety System (automatic wheel lock) was installed on Dock 11. In the coming period, we’ll be testing this system on behalf of HelloFresh Group to evaluate its effectiveness in improving dock safety at all DC’s.
⚠️ Why is this important?
Over the past months, several near-misses have occurred in our DC where trucks started to drive off before (un)loading was done. This creates a serious safety risk.
Although we already follow a strict key-control procedure there is still a remaining risk.
✅ How will the system improve safety?
With the wheel lock in place, this remaining risk will be eliminated. A truck physically cannot drive away. It’s simply not possible!
This prevents dock drive-aways and creates a safer work environment for the employees involved in loading and unloading. An additional benefit: The employees who are most at risk are also the ones who will be in control of the system.
🔧 What’s next?
This coming Monday, the system will be fully connected to the dock door control units. After that, all relevant team members will receive clear instructions on how to safely and easily use the system. In the background we will be collecting data and feedback on use and effectiveness of the system.
For the involved team members:
We understand that this is yet another change, especially alongside the ongoing WMS 2.0 implementation. However, this system is very easy to use: With just one press of a button, the truck is locked or unlocked. The system takes care of the rest.

Safety Alert - Last Minute Risk Analysis💡
⚠️ Last week, a Lost Time Incident (LTI) occurred in our DC. An employee tripped due to insufficient space around their work area. As a result of the unfortunate fall, the employee sustained injuries that led to several days of absence.
✅ This incident highlights the importance of always being alert to potential risks in our DC. What helps you with this is performing a Last Minute Risk Analysis (LMRA)! How?
Always ask yourself the questions in the Safety Tip below before you start work.
Make sure you can answer YES to all the questions, because only then can you start work safely!
