Introduction
Hi all,
It’s shaping up to be a sunny weekend, and things are moving along nicely here as well – the box count is on the rise. SCC has officially said goodbye to the infamous Week Overview Excel Sheet, and of course, we celebrated that special moment🎉. There are also some important updates from FSQA and HSE that you won’t want to miss.
Enjoy!

Production updates
Bye Bye Week Overview Excel Sheet
This week, we successfully completed the final phase of our Touchless Ordering rollout. As of this Thursday, the procurement team has dispatched all purchase orders without any manual intervention.
Touchless ordering bases orders based on demand AND inventory:
It looks at the opening stock for every production day
It gives us the possiblity to update stock numbers due to fallen products/crates/pallets
It calculates the BBD and top-up orders when needed
It will automatically higher orders when we have short deliveries from suppliers
It will automatically bring down orders when we have oversupply from suppliers
Due to this step, the old Week Overview Excel sheet is officially a thing of the past for the SCC team. After six years of faithful service, the team has successfully transitioned to the new Global Inventory Planner.
The cracks in the old system began to show three years ago, prompting the search for a better way. The journey to fully adopt the new tool was not without its challenges, with everything from tool integrations to shop floor inventory management hurdles to overcome. However, the mission is accomplished! A huge shoutout to Jedaja, Romee, Mitchel, Iana, Cathelijne and many other for making this happen. This successful launch marks the final blow to Excel tooling, as this was the very last one being used in Bleiswijk. It's a fantastic step forward for the whole operation which we celebrated with cake!
RiteHite trail update
We've been testing the safety system for two weeks now, and it has been used 46+ times already! We have received some valuable feedback from the truck drivers using it and we will make some improvements accordingly. Below some feedback received and our input regarding this feedback;
''With the sun in your face, it's a little bit harder to park your truck properly in combination with the smaller space to park in with this safety system' - Painted lines will be added on the ground to make parking easier - These lines are used as guidelines on how the truck should be aligned to be able to properly dock.
'In the past I had issues with breaking mudflaps due to this safety system'. - Information about minimal truck requirements is presented for drivers on A0 format added next to our test dock. Before they dock, they need to open their trailer doors so they walk directly to this information before they park their truck.
'I have a truck with camera's instead of mirrors, these camera's make the dock & guidebars deform, hence it's not easy to park on this small dock for me'. - Unfortunately there is not much we can do about this as it's a technical issue from the driver. He didn't have any feedback regarding the system itself. This driver adds to his feedback that lining will help him park easier.
We also tested the strength of the system by sending a driver away when the dock was still locked, and he was not able to move his truck at all. This shows the system does what it needs to do.
A small hiccup: The system gets an error once in a while and we need to do a hard reset to be able to use it again. We're in contact with RiteHIte how to solve this.
Summarized the trail is going well and the feedback we receive is valuable. We're going to keep testing to get more insight in the system
Food & Quality and Health & Safety
⚠️Food Safety Alert⚠️
As temperatures outside start to drop, pests are looking for a warmer place to stay—and that's often inside our distribution center. We are asking everyone to be extra vigilant and help us keep our building clean and free of pests.
We've already seen pest activity at our Schiedam DC, so please be especially alert for products and pallets coming from that location.
What to look out for:
Packaging: Inspect incoming pallets and boxes. Check for holes, gnaw marks, or droppings.
Doors and Gates: Make sure doors and gates aren't left open unnecessarily. Close them immediately after use to prevent pests from easily crawling in.
Food and Waste: Don't leave food scraps lying around. Make sure all trash is disposed of in the correct bins.
Together, we can ensure our DC remains a clean and safe place for everyone. If you see something suspicious, please report it directly to your supervisor.

Health & Safety Commitee GO-LIVE
Our very own Health & Safety Committee is a fact! Last Monday, we held our first meeting with a group of enthusiastic employees. During this session, we got to know each other and discussed the purpose and goals of the committee.
Together, we will be working on safety improvements for the DC, and some great ideas have already been shared. We’ll keep you updated on the progress.
But for now: I’m proud to introduce our DC Safety Ambassadors!
