Introduction
Hi all!
New boxweek, new newsletter! Hopefully, you enjoyed the Mental Health activities this week, such as the energizers, the nuts snack, the workshops, or the information market! In this newsletter you can read about a flashback to these activities, the Project Management training, the demolition of Klappolder, and much more!
Enjoy reading!
Key Performance Indicators of week 19
Boxcount 143.305 (-4686)
MPB 8.12 (-0.09)
Errors 1.11 (-0.19)
Boxcount 4635 (-366)
MPB 5.47 (-0.11)
Errors. 0.79% (+0.02)
Boxcount 5405 (+607)
MPB 1.58 (+0.08)
*Another record. The low boxcount (144308) likely helped, since we had very few warehousing issues and saw noticeably lower error rates on recurring ingredients like knoflookteen, tomaat and gele ui.
**The numbers between the parenthesis () are comparisons with last box week.
***For MPB calculation splitted boxcount is used. Hours of sick leave and vacation, as well as hours of seniors on the shop floor and technical department hours are not taken into account
Health & Safety
Boxweek 19
Announcements
From this week on we're gonna give you all some insight in our safety statistics. We have the following categories:
Incidents: How many incidents did we have in week 19 where somebody got hurt?
Incidents with lost time: How many incidents did we had in week 19 were somebody got hurt and couldn't come back to work the day after because of it.
Safety observations: How many safety observations were made in week 19? (If you fill in the Google form of the Safety Walk, your report will show up in this number!)
Important to know is that we don’t think in terms of good or bad when it comes to incidents. Of course, our main focus is nobody get hurt while performing their job. But accidents can happen, and it is more important to focus on reporting it and learning from it than focusing on the number itself!
We will also share updates on projects, safety alerts, follow-ups after incidents, (of course) safety tips from Larry the Lime, and more information about safety in the DC. Do you have any questions about safety or would you like to read about a specific topic, just let our H&S Specialist Annemiek know! (annemiek.vanbeest@hellofresh.nl or +31643551133)
Food Safety & Quality
Boxweek 19
Announcements
Last Wednesday (May 15), the first unannounced audit session happened: the Document review of the HelloFresh DC Compliance audit.
The (digital) audit was completed by an external auditor of BSI and the scope of the audit was on documents and procedures about food safety. Several teams provided documents during the morning of the audit which was very much appreciated.
The result of this first audit session was very positive and the auditor is looking forward to meet the team and to see the process in person during the site visit.
Specific tips for the teams which provided documents will be shared upcoming week and we will also focus on the preparation for the unannounced site visits.
To manage expectations, we expect the BRC audit upcoming weeks and the HF DC Compliance audit site visit in August.
Good luck all!

Material Planning Pilot Workshop SOPs & OPLs
This week the OpEx team organised a workshop for the Material Planning Pilot, on the importance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) & One Point Lessons (OPLs), and how to create them. An example of an SOP that you’re all familiar with are the recipe cards we ship to our customers. For an example of an OPL refer to the image opposite.
During the workshop, an exercise was done where the team was asked to draw the same thing without aligning on exactly how. Then they picked 1 of the drawings and made SOPs & OPLs for this. Another team then made a drawing (without seeing the original) based on the SOPs & OPLs, an example of the results is shown in the image opposite.
As you can see, because of the SOPs and OPLs, the drawings were very similar. If you consider this effect on our processes, this would have many benefits such as:
Preventing misuse (of resources); for example, using a beardnet as a hairnet.
Ensuring reproducibility, and preventing errors; enabling everyone to perform the process in the same way, and avoiding mistakes.
Standardization; an SOP & OPL is a great way to document how a process is intended to work.
Continuous improvement; an SOP is a living document, this allows us to closely evaluate our processes and refine them.
Transfer knowledge; SOPs & OPLs are an excellent tool for transferring knowledge between departments and people, making sure that everyone has access to the knowledge needed to perform their tasks.
You can find all the results, the workshop/training slidedeck and other examples in this google drive folder. This is the slidedeck (includes results) used during the workshop.
If you have any questions, please reach out to the OpEx team!
