Next week is National Suicide Prevention week. On Thursday, Sept 9th HCC will be outside HMMS with a small wallet card and a wristband to encourage students to be kind, look out for one another, and seek a trusted adult if necessary.
Suicide can be a tough topic, but is unfortunately one we have to have with our kids these days. There's a lot to worry about, but as a community we CAN prevent suicide deaths. Prevention is the key! A good resource for parents can be found here.

Do you have a middle school or high school student interested in being a part of the Hartford Community Coalition?
Hartford Community Coalition is a collaborative group of community members designed to support and promote the wellness of individuals and families. We want Hartford to be a supportive community where people embrace and achieve their personal, professional, emotional, and physical well-being.
We are always looking for youth voices that care deeply about substance misuse, suicide prevention and food insecurity in Hartford. Here are some of our past newsletters.
HCC also plans to offer UP For Learning's Getting to Y program to both HMMS and HHS students this year. Some students will take a field trip to Montpelier to learn best practice ways to teach youth to address substance misuse within their school community.
If you have a student who is interested please contact: Kelly kellyc@hccvt.org or Janet Potter potterj@hartfordschools.net.
