Friday, February 11th is read at the Beach day. We are engaging in an entire day of literacy based challenges to earn a badge (and also to practice reading and writing).
Have some time to help us pull this off? We could use decorators, decorations, and volunteers to help run challenges. Please just call or email me and we can figure out the details.
Specifically, we could use help with:
Night before:
Decorate areas in a beach theme. Set up stations.
Donate decorations to borrow.
Day of Volunteers:
Run the Beach Karaoke station (we have equipment if needed)
Run the Alison in Wonderland escape room station (we have the puzzle, but couldn't hurt if you dressed up in character!)
Pink Flamingo Attack crew
All day-of volunteers will need to present vaccination card and undergo background check process per policy.
Hope you can join us!

I think it's safe to say everyone had a good time. It was great to see kids solving their own problems and enjoying themselves. My favorite quote from a teacher was, "they've been laughing all morning, I've never heard them laugh this much".
Dear Families,
In addition to our in school mentoring program Windsor County Mentors (WCM) is offering a once a week after school program. For nearly fifty years WCM have been matching caring adults with youth who can benefit from having a mentor. Mentors and mentees share new experiences and build trust. Mentoring studies have shown that not only do mentee’s relationships with their parents or caregivers improve but school performance and graduation rates do too. Mentees also use drugs and alcohol less than their peers.
In the Windsor County Mentors program the mentor and mentee engage in activities after school hours or on weekends. Our matched pairs have gone to movies, theater, pottery studios, and local museums. They hike, bake, ride bikes, skate, and draw as well as many other things.
The pandemic has affected children dramatically and now more than ever children can benefit from the support of a mentor. WCM conducts rigorous background checks, do interviews, give training and support to our mentors. A mentor is not a therapist, tutor, parent, etc. A mentor is a friend, listener, positive role-model, and cheerleader.
Please contact WCM to enroll your child in our program or to get additional information. We look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks!
