I want to thank you all for your support and patience as we continue to ride out the disruptions that Covid is having on schooling and our lives. As you know, we've had to send several classes home this year to quarantine. The rate of community spread amongst students is something we did not have to contend with last year. Also new this year are the cases of apparent in- school spread. While still rare, it does happen and it makes the quaratines necessary, though we all know how disruptive and difficult it is on students, families, and staff.
There is a lot of great learning happening when we are here at school!
Many grades are tackling challenging texts and learning how to craft powerful paragraphs (ask your child about Painted Essays)
Students are back to hands on conceptual math learning.
Plus our kids are still just awesome! We are raising some seriously great people as a community. This is evidenced by the friendships we see on the playground in the morning!
All grades, student organized and led game of "Red Light Green Light"
Hang in there, I know it's tough. I know it's fraying the relationship with families and schools. Please know we are doing the best we can for your children and I know we will all come out of this a stronger community.
Light at the end...again?
Updated quarantine guidance just came out and may reduce the number of students needing to go home. We also just learned the White River School is eligible for a 5-12 year Vermont Department of Health vaccine clinic starting November 16th! More information will be forth coming soon!
We have an early release day on November 1st (dismissal at 12:45) and no school on November 2nd for Parent-Teacher Conferences. Teachers have been reaching out to schedule these remote conferences. Our goal is to connect with every family. We look forward to talking to you about your children!
Please join Cathy Newton (Elementary Curriculum Director) on October 20th from 5:30-6:00 for a virtual meeting to find out what it means to be a Title I school, what's available to your students, and what your parental/guardian rights are.
