Tech Tip: Force Users to Make a Copy of Google Drive Files
There are several ways to easily have students get their own copy of a Google Drive file you have, including using the built in "Make a Copy" feature in Google Classroom, but we like this trick too!ShakeUpLearning.com shows you how it's done.Thank you Pam Moeai, Educational Technology Specialist, for sharing this tech tip!
Here are the steps to create a Forced Copy of your Google Drive Files. Visit the website above for more details and a video tutorial.
Keep docs you want students to edit as "Private"
Get the shareable link
Copy the link
Open a new tab
Paste the link into the URL
Replace everything past the last back slash to "copy" (without the quotations)
Hit Enter
You should now see the "force copy" window
Copy that URL
Use that URL to link the students to the doc
