Diamond Ridge 5th Grade Teacher, Danelle Mineer, and Technology Coach, Kailie Nelson, teamed up recently to have students explain what they have learned about landforms, weathering and erosion using Stop Motion Animation.
Students used the Stop Motion Animator app on their Chromebooks, playdough and USB Hue cameras to create Stop Motion videos depicting a landform being changed by a type of weathering or erosion. Students worked in groups of 3 which allowed for everyone to help in the process.
Students shared their excitement with us about the project as we walked about the classroom facilitating. Students were especially enthusiastic to share their videos with the class and allow their classmates to guess the landform and type of weathering or erosion process they had depicted in their short animation videos.
Students uploaded their Stop Motion videos as a Google Classroom assignment allowing the teacher easy access to all of the videos.
