The school’s primary focus is to serve the educational needs of internationally mobile families residing in the Rhein-Main region. The school also considers applications from local families who are permanent or long-term residents. Admission shall be open to students who will benefit from the program, who will make a positive contribution to the school community, and who are capable of satisfying the academic requirements of the general curriculum.
Applicants with special needs or in need of English language acquisition (“ELA”) support will be evaluated in light of the school’s ability to provide the required support services and whether the applicant is capable of meeting the standards and requirements of the general curriculum.
Applicants are prioritized according to the following categories and, within each category, priority is given to applicants with siblings currently accepted into FIS, students returning to FIS, and children of FIS alumni, and within these sub-categories, by application date.
Category P: applicants affiliated with corporations or organizations that have been approved by the Head of School and the Board of Trustees to participate in the Partnership Program
Category 1: international applicants with a limited ability to adapt to local educational alternatives
Category 2: local applicants with an extensive history of international education which thereby limits their ability to adapt to local educational alternatives
Category 3: all other applicants
Applicants who are exceptionally talented academically, athletically or artistically or with other talents or characteristics that will positively benefit the school community may be considered for preferential admission at the discretion of the Head of School or the Admission Committee, generally consisting of the division principal, a counselor and the Director of Admissions and Advancement.
Admission is granted on an annual basis. Students shall be accepted for re‐enrollment if their school records and behavior are satisfactory and they continue to meet the criteria for admission.
The application process is governed by specific regulations and assessments in the admissions office and the school divisions and is subject to national laws and the regulations of government educational authorities. The final decision for the granting or denial of admission rests with the Head of School.
