Well-being and belonging are core values of FIS.
Well-being is defined as individuals having positive experiences, and a sense of purpose, meaning, and belonging. Well-being is supported and promoted through proactive strategies that enhance mental, physical, and emotional health.
Belonging is defined as the feeling of being welcomed, valued, and connected within an inclusive environment where individual differences are acknowledged and respected.
The Head of School and Administration shall develop and implement structures that support and foster well-being and belonging in the School Community. This includes, but is not limited to:
clear expectations for well-being and belonging;
a safe and caring environment;
educational opportunities and professional development related to well-being, belonging, and mental health;
activities that build cultural and social connections and relationships;
opportunities for volunteerism and community engagement that promote well-being and belonging;
transitions care for those arriving and leaving the School; and,
multiple ways to share concerns and access individualized support.
