The school is committed to recognizing the achievements and successes of its students. The administration will ensure that student accomplishments are celebrated in age-appropriate ways and in accordance with the school’s mission and beliefs. Nominations and selections will be overseen by the divisional administration and relevant defined committees and the decision-making process and the criteria for each award will be made available to the community.
The following awards shall be presented at the graduation ceremony:
Board of Trustees Mission Award, recognizing a student who exemplifies the ideals of the school’s mission through the pillars of excellence, opportunity and balance.

With respect to all awards presented at the graduation ceremony, potential award recipients shall be nominated by faculty and staff who work closely with upper school students. In the case of the FIS Award for Academic Achievement, students achieving a specified GPA will comprise a shortlist for potential nomination. All nominations will be considered by an Awards Panel, composed of the US Principal, IB Diploma Coordinator, US Counselor, and representatives from the Board of Trustees, the PTG and alumni. The panel shall take a holistic and investigative approach to decision-making applying the award criteria. The decision-making process and the criteria for each award shall be shared with the FIS community.
