Administrator job descriptions are maintained by the Head of School's office; all other faculty and staff job descriptions are maintained by the Human Resource department.
Signatures on Employee Contract: The Chair of the Board of Trustees and a member of the Executive Committee shall sign the contract of the Head of School. For all other employment contracts power of attorney shall be given to the Head of School, who will co-sign with the Director of Finance and Operations. The Chair of the Board of Trustees shall co-sign the contract of the principals.
Salary Negotiations: The Board of Trustees delegates to the Head of School, in consultation with the Chair of the Board of Trustees, the responsibility to negotiate contracts on behalf of the school with duly certified collective bargaining agents, represented by a Tariff Commission which consists of faculty and teacher assistant representatives of the German Education and Science Trade Union (Gewerkschaft Erziehung und Wissenschaft) (the "GEW") elected by the faculty and teacher assistant union members, and a separate Tariff Commission consisting of members of the German United Services Trade Union (Vereinte Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft) ("Verdi") for staff negotiations.
The GEW and Verdi trade unions, acting on the employees' behalf through the Tariff Commission, negotiate as and when necessary with the Entrepreneurs' Association Frankfurt (Unternehmerverband Frankfurt) (an association of employers of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main region), which acts on behalf of FIS.
Employee Compensation and Benefits: The Head of School shall, on a regular basis, assess the compensation of school employees, evaluate job descriptions and make recommendations to the Finance Committee regarding compensation and benefit programs.
Leave: Faculty and staff shall be granted employee leave for a range of circumstances according to German law and the Collective Agreement (Manteltarifvertrag). Such leave circumstances are described in detail in the Faculty and Staff Handbook.
