Choose one of the poems we've read this year (but haven't written an essay on) an write a full, developed essay interpreting its meaning. You may choose "Sestina," "The Shield of Achilles," "The Whipping," "Water," the darkness poems, the early morning poems, the Eros poems, or any of the Dickinson poems. Use direct quotations from the poem(s) to focus and deepen your writing.
Before you begin writing. Read through the poem a few more times and make an outline. Choose your quotes carefully so that you get a full and insightful essay. Your essay should be about 3 or 4 pages long (typed and double spaced).
