Sign up for an IR test this week if you’re reading two books for the first quarter, you need to take a test by Wednesday, September 14. Tuesday9/13 Finish reading your IR book if you’re reading more than one book for first quarter. Tests are due by tomorrow. Continue reading your long book if you’re only reading one. Due by October 11. Wednesday9/14 Read to page 51 in “The Most Dangerous Game.” Read carefully and annotate so that you’re ready for a reading quiz and class discussion tomorrow. Thursday9/15 Complete the wildfire smoke assignment on Google Classroom. Friday9/16 Choose a new IR book and start reading or continue reading your long book. Tuesday8/31 Continue reading and annotating in House on Mango Street. Make sure you’ve gotten to the end of page 100 so that you’re ready for a reading quiz tomorrow. Wednesday9/1 Based on my suggestions, the grading criteria, and your own ideas, revise your childhood memory and improve your writing as much as you can. After you make the main revisions, read your narrative aloud and correct for any typos, repeated words, awkward sections, etc. Make sure to show your memory and not merely tell what happened. Final drafts are due tomorrow. Thursday9/2 Ask your parents about how they chose your name and whether it has any special meanings. Look up the meaning of your name and your Chinese Zodiac. Take down notes on your research. You can start writing the beginning of your “My Name” writing. Remember to begin your piece with: In English my name means ______ . In ________ it means ________ . Friday9/3 Read in your IR book. First book tests are due by September 14. The second book (or one longer one) is due by October 8. Finish reading House on Mango Street if you have not finished it yet.
