Reflect on how Twain characterizes Huck and reveals his transformation in regard to Jim. What changes in his moral sense as the novel progresses? What makes him change? Who influences his thinking. Mention a few specific moments (use some quotations) when he starts to see things differently. Why does he say "All right then I'll go to hell" when he decides not to turn in Jim? Why does he end the novel running away from Aunt Sally who wants to adopt him and "sivilize" him? What has Huck learned from his travels on the river?
This is a think write, so get lots of ideas down. Write more than a page typed, double spaced (aim for about two). Don't worry much about style and grammar for this assignment that focuses on your thinking.
